Guest Teachers

Julia Arenson has been practicing Hatha yoga since childhood and has been a certified yoga instructor for fourteen years. She is a DONA-trained post-partum doula and specializes in prenatal yoga and Parent-Baby yoga. Julia was raised in a family of yoga teachers and practitioners and was first certified through the Sivananda Vendanta tradition in 1997. She is certified in “Anatomy and Breath-centered yoga” through Leslie Kaminoff of The Breathing Project, prenatal yoga through Janice Clarfield and Mommy and Me” yoga through Baby Om. Julia has also performed and taught Middle Eastern (Bellydance) for over eighteen years and enjoys safely incorporating some of the earthy and organic vocabulary of Middle Eastern dance in her prenatal and Mommy-Baby classes. Her ever-evolving practice has also been inspired and influenced by the strong alignment principles of Iyengar and Anusara as well as the flowing Vinyasa style of Jivamukti yoga. Julia has had extensive experience in teaching diverse populations, body-types and levels. She has taught movement and Hatha yoga to pre-schoolers and teenagers within the public school system and to the injured and elderly in nursing and rehabilitation centers. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and four year old son.

Several years into teaching yoga, Adriana Rizzolo realized that even though she had studied with some of the world's greatest yoga teachers, she didn't always know how to translate this into a deep, authentic, happiness when she was off the mat. She went on a fierce journey of self-discovery and had a profound awakening within her own yoga practice and life. She passes this onto her students through her classes, workshops, and training courses in her practical, straight talking, no-nonsense approach.  Adriana travels, trains with and works alongside meditation teacher and spiritual leader David Harshada Wagner and continues to practice and study asana with various senior teachers in NYC.  Her classes are infused with strength building, healing, fun and therapeutics.  She is the co-founder of Awakened Feminine - a women's movement that inspires growth and empowerment.
